Green Africa Airways will soon begin its operations in Nigeria, thus offering more choice for Nigerian air travellers. This was revealed by the firm’s chief executive officer, Babawande Afolabi.
The airlines which will be based in Lagos, after securing its air transport licence, is working to obtain an air operator’s certificate. It will use leased mid-sized jets for its flights and will initially focus on domestic flights. “Our goal is to really develop the Nigerian market and create a strong home base. We want to make air travel accessible,” Afolabi said.
It should be highlighted that Green Africa’s arrival in Nigeria’s sky happens in a context where many airlines have suspended their operations while others reduce their fleet and their personnel. However, just like Green Africa Airways, other operators have shown a particular interest in the Nigerian market. Actually, Business Day reported that 18 airlines have applied to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority for air operators certificates.
