Malian humanitarian organizations want to mobilize $263 million to assist the most vulnerable populations. This was announced on February 15, 2018, by the secretary general of the ministry of solidarity and humanitarian action.
The fundraising falls in line with the country’s 2018 humanitarian response plan, supported by about 41 humanitarian organizations. The amount will be used to finance about 122 projects in nutrition, education, food security and the construction of health facilities.
Since a rebellion started in 2012, Mali has been subjected to a continuing insecurity that has led to the exodus of several people. The above-mentioned plan is thus expected to sustain more than 1.5 million Malians in need.
Let’s note that in 2017, these organizations had raised $135 million, 44% of the financing needs estimated at $305 million that year.
