Volkswagen, the German car sold in Tunisia by ENNAL Automobiles is the most sold in the country, with 4, 300 units in the first nine months of 2016, an analysis published by stock market intermediary Mac SA. With a market share of 9.61%, it steals Citroën’s crown which led the rankings in 2015 with 5,201 cars sold, against 4,146 this year.
At the second position in the rankings is Japanese brand Isuzu, which sold 4,295 cars over the period considered, thus a market share of 9.60%. Next is South Korean Kia with 4,222 cars sold or a market share of 9.44%.
In regards to personal vehicles, Kia sold the most in Tunisia over the period studied.
Despite Tunisia’s current economic situation, the country’s automobile sector has been flourishing over the past four years, at the expense of the parallel market which slumped by 13.8% over the first nine months of 2016. Overall, its official automobile market sold at September 30, 2016, around 44,726 new vehicles, up 14.74% from what it did in 2015 (38,977).
