Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) began on July 19, a four-day work visit in Morocco. This is the executive’s first official visit to the kingdom since coming into exercise in September 2015, a statement from the Pan African institution reveals.
This visit is in the framework of the second general assembly of Africa50, a Pan African fund which is dedicated to infrastructures and is based in Casablanca. AfDB’s number one will take part in the session as the president of Africa50’s board.
During his time in Morocco, Mr Akinwumi will meet with chief of government Abdelillah Benkirane and other high officials including Mostafa Terrab, head of the Cherifian Phosphates Office (OCP) and Meriem Bensaleh, president of Morocco’s General Confederation of Enterprises (CGEM).
He will end his visit by meeting with Mustapha Bakkoury, President of the directorate of the Moroccan Solar Power Agency (MASEN) and visiting the Noor solar plant at Ouarzazate.
Morocco is a founding member of AfDB and its first client with more than €9.5 billion allocated in close to 50 years of collaboration, the statement said.
