The Africa Climate Change Fund (ACCF) has approved $4.7 million for seven new projects across the continent.
In Mozambique, the Facility will support a syntropic farming strategy to improve the resilience and adaptation of vulnerable communities in the country's coastal and marine ecosystems. In Sudan, the supported project will foster resilience of women and young farmers by boosting their capacity for collective joint entrepreneurship. Similar projects will also be supported in Kenya and Uganda. A project to remove barriers to access to climate finance will be supported in Senegal.
ACCF will also back the establishment of Local Climate Adaptive Living Facility (LoCAL) in Benin and Lesotho to enable the governments of both countries to develop and implement resilience projects. In Côte d'Ivoire, it is a pilot project based on the mechanisms of adaptation benefits for cocoa farmers.
The Fund also targets the Africa NDC Hub project, which helps countries in the implementation of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). These initiatives bring to 15 the total number of projects supported by ACCF.
