Indian pharmaceutical group Kilitch Drugs announced in a statement published on September 20, on the website of Bombay Stock Exchange, that its subsidiary Kilitch Estro Biotech has been awarded a 4,317 m² plot by the government of Ethiopia to build a plant.
The infrastructure which will be located in the specialized economic zone of Oromia (in the Eastern part of Ethiopia), will mainly manufacture nutraceutics, the same source added.
Nutraceuticss are food products sold in pill, powdered or any other drug form. They provide medical or health benefits and protect from chronic diseases.
Besides Ethiopia, Kilitch Drugs revealed in its statement plans to build a plant in Burkina Faso also, as part of its strategy to expand its footprint across Africa.
