The wait is over in Gabon. Results for the Presidential election are out and reveal that Ali Bongo again President with 49.85% of the votes. His opponent, Jean Ping, had 48.16%.
This was reported by Koaci.com and SwissInfo that cited sources from the CENAP. Supposedly, Minister of Interior is about to publish official results.
Ali Bongo owes his victory to the Haut Ogooué, his province, where he grabbed 95% of votes.
On the sidelines of the proclamation, Ivorian cybercriminals released false proceedings which claim Jean Ping rightful winner with 60% of the votes, after another scandal about Alassane Ouattara’s advisor, in the shadows, tried to corrupt Gabon’s electoral commission. Now, it’s a member of the EU’s monitoring delegation who is suspected of corruption.
The Opposition and the EU are demanding for a vote recount.
It should be noted that the EU has not yet said anything concerning the dismissal of the advisor to Cote d’Ivoire’s presidency Mamadi Diané, following his actions to favor Jean Ping.
