(Ecofin Agency) - On November 2, 2016, Ngo Search for Common Ground has organized in Bujumbura a land-related experience-sharing workshop between Congolese and Burundian officials.

Aspects discussed during the session include land-related innovations and the reform of land legislation in Burundi. “The aim is to gather State and civic society actors so they work in synergy on land. In Burundi, we want to boost the capacities of local actors. Recommendations issued during the meeting will be addressed to the various actors of the land industry, namely the Land Commission, people of cadastre and urbanism,” said Mrs. Floride Shishakiye, national director Search for Common Ground Burundi.

“In Burundi, the implementation of land regulation faces various challenges including the issue of women’s access to lands which is yet to be integrated in the land reform. The project which is underway since 2012 recommends mediation in resolving land conflicts,” Bonesha said.
