Ghana: Exposed in a film, 20 judges are dismissed for bribery

Thursday, 10 December 2015 09:22

(Ecofin Agency) - Ghana’s Superior Judiciary Council announced in a release published on December 7, the dismissal of 20 judges guilty of corruption.

The judges were secretly filmed by a Ghanaian journalist while accepting bribes to give false rulings. Ghanaians, astonished by the scandal rushed to movie theaters to watch the documentary produced by the journalist.

However, the judges were officially stripped of their positions only after being auditioned by Disciplinary Council.

Ongoing investigations target twelve other appeal court judges. “No one will evade the deserved punishment if found guilty,” the Superior Judiciary Council said in its release.
