Tunisian State to boost monitoring of State lands likely to host terrorists

Tuesday, 27 December 2016 03:48

In Tunisia, the State Secretary to State Domains and Land Affairs, Mabrouk Kourchid announced he would deploy all efforts to optimize control over state lands around mountain areas, to prevent terrorists from settling there.

“These lands, especially those nearing military buffer zones, must be put strictly monitored to insure they do not become hideouts for terrorists. The State Secretary to State Domains and Land Affairs will present the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior and other competent authorities, an exhaustive list of State lands that are near these zones for monitoring-purpose. A team is currently listing these lands, especially those are likely to serve as hiding spots for terrorists,” Mr. Kourchid told TAP.

Having suffered multiple terrorist attacks, knowingly in Sousse and at the Bardo museum, Tunisia has adopted last November a national strategy to fight extremism and terrorism ; a strategy to which most members of the society take part in.
