Burkina Faso: Bomboré Gold Output Drops 4% in Q1 2025, YoY

In its 2025 outlook, Orezone Gold projects Bomboré mine output will range from 115,000 to 130,000 ounces, up against last year’s total of 118,746 ounces.

Orezone Gold reported on Wednesday, April 16, that the Bomboré mine in Burkina Faso produced 28,688 ounces of gold in the first quarter of 2025. This is 4% less than in Q1 2024–30,139 ounces. The firm described the recent output as "slightly below forecasts."

Orezone blamed the shortfall on rescheduled plant maintenance but is not changing its full-year targets. The miner still expects to hit between 115,000 and 130,000 ounces for 2025.

The firm is gearing up for a big finish this year at its Bomboré gold mine. The company’s new hard rock processing plant is set to go live in the fourth quarter, adding 5,000 to 10,000 ounces to annual output. The existing plant will keep churning out between 110,000 and 120,000 ounces.

The construction of the new rock processing plant is moving fast and remains on schedule. Once the new facility is up and running, Bomboré’s production could jump by 45% as soon as 2026.
