Graphex Mining to present its key issues to Tanzania in September 2018

Tanzania and Graphex Mining will review the impacts of new mining legislation on Chilalo graphite project. Indeed, on Monday 27, August 2018, the company announced in a statement that it submitted a document, listing ten major problems related to the new legislation, to the Tanzanian government. According to the statement, these problems could block the company from getting the funding necessary for the project.

Indeed, in July 2017, Tanzania adopted a new legal framework regulating the mining industry. The legal framework’s provisions were published in January and July 2018. In view of the problems these amendments raised for some companies, the new mines minister, Angellah Kairuki, asked them to submit a document listing their problems. Such documents will, therefore, be the basis of the presentation.

"We were pleased to be asked by the Ministry to make the Submission, which we believe reflects the willingness of the Tanzanian Government to restore confidence in its resources industry " , Phil Hoskins, Graphex Mining’s managing director, commented. “We now look forward to meeting with senior government officials to present the Submission [In September 2018] and determine a way forward for development of our Chilalo project”, he added.

Let’s remind that the Chilalo project hosts an inferred mining resource of 16.9 million tons grading 10.2% Total Graphitic Carbon (TGC) and a Probable Ore Reserve of 4.7 million tons grading 11% TGC.
