Kenya advances its digital transformation strategy by strengthening international partnerships. At the Global Fraud Summit held March 16–17 in Vienna, Austria, Kenyan officials held discussions with the Singaporean government to explore cooperation in digital technology and security.
Kenya and Singapore enjoy strong bilateral relations anchored on mutual interest and shared priorities, with Singapore serving as a strategic partner on cybersecurity, digitalisation of government services, ICT capacity building and knowledge sharing and skills development.

Officials, including Singapore’s Minister of Justice Edwin Tong, discussed several strategic areas. The talks emphasized Singapore’s approach to managing security systems and national coordination, aiming to integrate technology more fully into public operations. In addition to technological aspects, the proposed cooperation includes institutional knowledge sharing.
“While we develop a framework for the creation of the Nairobi Metropolitan Police Unit, as instructed last month by the President, the Singaporean model provides valuable benchmarks in command structure, technology use, and strong community involvement in policing activities,” said Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, Kenya’s Minister of Interior and National Administration.
Kenya pursues this initiative as the government seeks to accelerate public service modernization and strengthen digital infrastructure resilience amid rising fraud and cybercrime risks. Developing local expertise remains central, given the growing role of the digital economy.
Nairobi intends to leverage Singapore’s experience to build a more efficient digital ecosystem that supports innovation and improves public service delivery. However, both sides have yet to sign any formal agreements.
