Aya Gold and Silver targets average annual silver production of 6 million ounces at its Zgounder mine in Morocco through 2036, the Canadian miner said in December 2025. The company bases this outlook primarily on the ramp-up of a new processing plant at the site.
Zgounder produced a total of 4.82 million ounces of silver in 2025, according to an operational update published Tuesday, January 13, by Aya Gold and Silver. The output represented a 193% increase from the 1.64 million ounces reported in 2024.
This growth reflected the gradual ramp-up of operations following the commissioning of a new processing plant at the end of 2024. The facility operates with a capacity of about 2,000 tonnes per day and drove most of the mine’s production improvement. However, the performance fell short of Aya’s annual guidance of between 5 million and 5.3 million ounces.
Meanwhile, Aya operated in a significantly more favorable market environment. Silver prices rose more than 150% in 2025, supported by renewed investor demand for precious metals as safe-haven assets. As a result, the company increased revenue by 326% between January and September 2025.
The release of Aya’s full-year financial results will determine the mine’s overall commercial performance and clarify the impact on Morocco’s mining revenues. In the meantime, the company plans to continue ramping up operations at Zgounder through ongoing performance optimization and steady production. Aya reiterated in mid-December its goal to maintain average annual output of 6 million ounces at the mine through 2036.
