Australia-based junior miner Enegex Limited has been granted four new gold exploration permits by the government of Côte d’Ivoire, according to a Jan. 19 statement. The permits clear the way for the company to begin initial exploration work in the coming months.
Previously focused on gold projects in Australia, Enegex announced in September 2025 that it had reached an agreement to acquire a 3,700 sq km portfolio of gold exploration assets in Côte d’Ivoire. The portfolio includes the Gogo, Tougbe, Dimbokro, and Toumodi projects, which cover the areas linked to the newly awarded permits, including Gogo West and Tougbe East.
Enegex said it has received the official decree documents for the four additional exploration permits and plans to start field activities on the sites in the near term. The company has already launched an initial drilling program on the Tougbe prospect.
The permit awards form part of Côte d’Ivoire’s broader strategy to boost investment in gold exploration through the issuance of new licenses. In early December 2025, the authorities granted around ten exploration permits to nine mining companies, including Canada’s Barrick Mining.
These developments highlight growing interest in Côte d’Ivoire’s gold potential at a time of strong market conditions. Gold prices rose by more than 70% in 2025, encouraging mining companies to expand exploration activity across the region.
However, the discovery of commercially viable deposits from newly issued permits remains uncertain and typically requires several years of exploration work before results can be confirmed.
