The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) on February 19 launched a tender for the construction of a 500 MW photovoltaic solar park in the West of Nile area. Applications under the request for qualification will be accepted until May 11, 2026.
The project will be developed under an independent power producer model on a build-own-operate basis. The selected developer will be responsible for designing, financing, building, owning and operating the plant.
Once operational, the facility will contribute to Egypt’s goal of reaching 42% renewable energy in its electricity mix by 2030 and 65% by 2040. The total cost of the project has not yet been disclosed.
Synergy Consulting, Inc. is advising EETC on structuring and managing the qualification and tender process. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is supporting the initiative as financial and commercial adviser.
Separately, EETC is conducting a selection process for a 1 GW wind farm in the West Sohag region. The request for qualification phase for that project remains open until March 1, 2026.
