Construction of the Algeria-Qatar hospital in Sidi Abdellah is progressing at an accelerated pace, with authorities reaffirming plans to deliver the $287 million facility in 2027.
Following a site visit, the Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency, Omar Rekkache, said the project was advancing at a “good pace,” noting that the current rate of execution supports delivery within the announced timeline.
The hospital, developed under a partnership involving Algerian public investment structures and Qatar-based operator Apex Health, is expected to have a capacity of around 300 beds and generate approximately 950 direct jobs.
Spanning an estimated 10 hectares, the facility will include specialized departments in areas such as oncology, cardiovascular care, and neuro-surgery, segments where Algerian patients frequently seek treatment abroad.
According to project data communicated by authorities, the hospital will integrate advanced medical infrastructure including intensive care units, high-precision imaging centers, and specialized surgical platforms such as neuro-interventional radiology and Gamma Knife technology for stroke and tumor treatment.
The development is also expected to strengthen domestic handling of complex conditions, including cardiovascular diseases and cancers, which account for a growing share of hospital demand in Algeria, in line with regional trends on non-communicable diseases.
The Sidi Abdellah hospital is among several projects aimed at modernizing Algeria’s health system, amid rising demand linked to demographic growth and the increasing prevalence of chronic illnesses.
