Two ministries agree on shared transport services for vocational trainees.
The plan supports equal opportunity and better learning conditions nationwide.
The move comes as Algeria faces a 9.7 % unemployment rate in 2024.
On November 24, in Algiers, the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education (MFEP) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MESRS) signed a cooperation agreement. The accord aims to allow vocational training trainees to use university transport services across the country’s wilayas.
The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education and was chaired by the sector’s minister, Nacima Arhab, and the minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari. The program includes close coordination between both ministries to manage logistics and assess specific regional needs.
According to an MFEP statement quoted by Algeria Press Service, the agreement reflects a strategic direction that strengthens the role of trainees in public policies by providing regular and reliable transport services, easing daily travel constraints, and enabling young people to continue their training in safe and supportive conditions aligned with their ambitions. It also shows the shared commitment of both ministries to promote equal opportunity and expand services for learners and trainees, in line with national efforts to develop the vocational training system and create an environment that supports effective youth integration into the labor market.
The signing of the agreement comes as Algeria’s unemployment rate stood at 9.7 % in 2024, according to the National Statistics Office. Faced with this challenge, the government is multiplying initiatives to align vocational training with labor market needs and foster sustainable youth employment.
