Orange Egypt and Qilaa International Partner to Launch Smart Tourism Ecosystem
Wednesday, 19 November 2025 16:17
  • Orange Egypt and Qatar’s Qilaa International Group have partnered to develop WTOUR, a digital platform offering trip planning, hotel bookings, local exploration, and exclusive offers.

  • Egypt’s tourism sector grew by 21% in 2025, with revenues reaching $15.3 billion in 2024.

  • The initiative aligns with global innovative tourism trends (projected to hit $62B by 2032) and builds on Orange Egypt’s broader shift toward digital public services.

Orange Egypt has signed a strategic partnership with Qatar’s Qilaa International Group to develop a fully integrated, innovative tourism ecosystem in Egypt. Announced on November 18, the collaboration aims to harness advanced communication technologies and digital innovation to position Egypt as a leading global tourism destination. “This partnership highlights Orange Egypt’s commitment to supporting key national sectors—most notably the tourism sector, which is witnessing unprecedented growth driven by major national projects,” said Orange.

At the core of this partnership is Qilaa’s innovative tourism application, WTOUR, which delivers an end-to-end digital travel experience. The app will allow tourists to plan trips, explore local destinations, book hotels and restaurants, and access exclusive offers powered by Orange Egypt. In addition, Qilaa will produce interactive digital content that highlights Egypt’s rich and diverse attractions—all within a single, connected platform.

This initiative comes at a time of unprecedented growth in Egypt’s tourism sector, driven by major national projects such as the Grand Egyptian Museum. According to the country’s State Information Service (SIS), the industry grew by 21% in 2025. The SIS cites data from the Central Bank of Egypt indicating that tourism revenues rose by 9% in 2024, reaching $15.3 billion. These figures underscore Egypt’s strong commitment to integrating technology into its economic and cultural development, fueling the ongoing tourism revival.

According to market research firm DataIntelo, the global smart tourism market was valued at approximately USD 18 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach USD 62 billion by 2032, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.8%. In Egypt, platforms like WTOUR are expected to contribute to rising tourism revenues and support the sector’s post-pandemic recovery.

This latest move builds on Orange Egypt’s recent launch of an integrated digital platform that enables citizens to access government and legal services directly through the My Orange mobile application. Announced on November 12, the platform offers a wide range of innovative services—including traffic, family, and criminal prosecution case management—designed to provide secure, fast, and convenient digital access nationwide. Together, these initiatives reflect Orange Egypt’s broader transformation strategy as it evolves from a traditional telecom operator into a comprehensive digital service provider, fully aligned with the national Digital Egypt Vision 2030.
