• South Africa earned $3.36 billion from agricultural exports in Q1 2025
• Revenue rose 10% year-on-year due to higher volumes and global prices
• Key exports included grapes, corn, apples, and wine
South Africa generated $3.36 billion in agricultural export revenue in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 10% increase over the same period in 2024. The announcement was made on June 3 by Minister of Agriculture John Steenhuisen.
According to the minister, the growth was driven by higher export volumes, especially of grapes, corn, apples, and wine, as well as improved global prices for agricultural commodities.
South Africa continues to maintain a surplus in its food trade balance, distinguishing it as one of the few countries in Africa with net agricultural export gains.
