  • MINUSCA supports deployment of 356 Central African soldiers to Zemio
  • Additional 110 troops deployed to Bambouti in Haut-Mbomou prefecture
  • Move aims to restore stability amid persistent armed group threats

The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) said on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, that 356 members of the Central African Armed Forces have been deployed to Zemio with its support.

The mission added that 110 additional personnel were deployed to Bambouti. Both towns are administrative districts in Haut-Mbomou prefecture.

MINUSCA said it continues to work with Central African authorities to help restore stability in this part of the country.

Despite the 2019 Political Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in the Central African Republic, insecurity persists in several regions, particularly in the east and southeast where armed groups continue to threaten civilians. Against this backdrop, MINUSCA regularly supports local authorities in the gradual redeployment of national armed forces to affected areas.

The mission has been deployed in the country since 2014 under a mandate from the United Nations Security Council. Its mandate includes protecting civilians and supporting the peace process.
