During the visit, Mahama will hold talks with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung. Mahama will also meet with Woo Won-shik, the Speaker of the National Assembly.
The program also includes several events aimed at strengthening economic ties. Mahama will attend a ship-naming ceremony at the shipyard of Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan.
Mahama will also deliver a speech at Yonsei University. In addition, he will meet members of the Ghanaian diaspora and business leaders to promote investment opportunities in Ghana.
Ghana continues to expand partnerships to mobilize investment for infrastructure, energy and technology projects. In this context, cooperation with South Korea plays a strategic role.
Seoul already finances several development projects in Ghana across agriculture, health, education, energy and infrastructure sectors.
In 2024, Ghana and South Korea signed an agreement worth about $2 billion to finance projects in infrastructure, energy and technology over five years.
According to the Ghana News Agency, South Korean assistance to Ghana exceeded $400 million in 2024.
