• Chad launches project to digitize transport and civil aviation services
• Reform targets faster processing, transparency, and revenue growth
• Move aims to boost trade, align with AfCFTA and CEMAC standards
Chad's Ministry of Transport, Civil Aviation, and Meteorology announced on Tuesday, September 9, the launch of a major project to digitize its administrative services. The initiative aims to create an integrated digital system to centralize all financial services.
The project will digitize vehicle registrations, driver's licenses, transport and freight licenses, and the Mandatory Waybill (LVO).
According to the authorities, the goal is to fundamentally transform the relationship between the administration and the public while reducing processing times to streamline national and regional supply chains. For road transporters and freight operators, faster access to documents is expected to boost competitiveness for both domestic shipments and trade along corridors connecting Chad to its CEMAC neighbors.
In a country where administrative delays have hampered the transport sector, this reform is seen as a catalyst for trade and a way to attract more investment in transport and logistics. Another key objective is to combat informal practices and hidden costs. By dematerializing these processes, the government hopes to improve the transparency and traceability of operations and increase public revenue.
Finally, the reform is part of a broader push for regional integration. It aims to align Chad with the standards required to fully leverage its strategic role within Central Africa's logistics corridors and capitalize on opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
