FEVEO aims to mobilize CFA4,592 billion to create over 1.2 million jobs
Program focuses on women, youth, and inclusion for people with disabilities
Initiative targets agriculture, industry, energy, and technology sectors
In Senegal, the Femmes Vision Économie Organique (FEVEO) initiative aims to mobilize CFA4,592 billion ($8.10 billion) to create more than 1.2 million jobs by 2035, or about 2,000 jobs per commune. The announcement was made on November 17, 2025, by its Director General, Ndèye Yacine Faye, as reported by the Senegalese Press Agency.
These jobs will be mainly directed toward women and young people, with a minimum monthly salary of about CFA328,000. FEVEO also plans to support the empowerment of 27,650 women’s groups and promote inclusion for people living with disabilities. The main sectors targeted are agriculture, industry, energy, and technology.
To meet its goals, the initiative will rely on participatory and inclusive governance, strategic partnerships across the public, private, and community sectors, and close monitoring of on-the-ground impact, with the aim of building an organic, circular, and ethical economy.
Like several African countries, job creation to meet current and future needs remains a key challenge. In Senegal, where the broad unemployment rate reached 20.3 % in the third quarter of 2024, according to the National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD), issues related to employment, entrepreneurship, investment, and business remain a central concern for public authorities.
Among the reforms announced to support youth employment and professional integration is the seed fund of the Professional Training and Integration Project (PFPI), with CFA1.8 billion. Launched last September, this program aims to support entrepreneurial and self-employment projects for young people aged 18 to 35, with a focus on inclusion, targeting 70 % women and 5 % people with disabilities.
