UNESCO has allocated a financial package of approximately $50 million, around 27.8 billion CFA francs, to support the implementation of Côte d'Ivoire's National Development Plan (NDP) for 2026-2030. The announcement was made on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, by the organization's representative, Mame Omar Diop, during a meeting with Minister of Planning and Development Souleymane Diarrassouba.
The funding is intended to support various government projects and initiatives across several strategic sectors, including education, culture, science, communication and information. The talks also provided an opportunity to review ongoing programs and reaffirm UNESCO's commitment to supporting the achievement of the NDP 2026-2030 objectives.
Three Plans Since 2012
Since 2012, Côte d'Ivoire has launched three national development plans, covering the periods 2012-2015, 2016-2020 and 2021-2026, aimed at transforming its economy and society while improving living conditions and reducing poverty and inequality. The NDP 2026-2030 targets average growth of 7.2%, while the World Bank forecasts 6.4% through 2027.
The plan aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, which aim to eliminate poverty, protect the environment and ensure prosperous and inclusive development for all by 2030.
