  • Extractive sector surged 50.9%; manufacturing grew 3.5% on food, fuel gains
  • Cumulative industrial activity up 11.7% by end-September 2025

Industrial activity in Togo rose 8.1% in the third quarter of 2025 from the previous quarter, driven by the extractive and manufacturing sectors, according to a December 2025 WAEMU regional economic outlook report.

Economists attribute the increase mainly to a sharp rebound in extractive industries, where output jumped 50.9% quarter on quarter. Manufacturing also supported growth, expanding by 3.5%, underpinned by an 11.6% rise in food production and a 5.8% increase in petroleum product processing.

Electricity output, however, weighed on overall performance, contracting by 11.0%.

The upward trend continued on an annual basis, with industrial production up 6.2% year on year in the third quarter of 2025.

Mining dominates the extractive sector in Togo, focusing on phosphates, limestone and clinker, which account for most output and shape the sector’s activity. By the end of September 2025, cumulative industrial activity was up 11.7%.
