Niger : Drilling activities launched at Zomo-1 oil well

Monday, 10 September 2018 14:40

Savannah Petroleum has launched drilling activities at Zomo-1 oil well, its fifth drilling programme at the PSC R3 / R4 block in Agadem, Niger.

The activities were launched on September 8, 2018, and should last between 30 to 35 days. Like the other oil wells of the programme, Zomo-1 was launched to assess the oil potential of Sokor Alternances. The drilling platform should be 2,438 meters deep.

Savannah is planning to record the well’s potential sections and realize further acoustic surveys of the sections containing oil. If successful, activities at the well will be suspended for future assessment. This could lead to well tests.

This new drilling is the result of Savannah and its platform provider Great Wall Drilling Company Niger’s choice to exercise the second of their six individual agreements, following success of the programme’s first four drillings.
