(Ecofin Agency) - Equatorial Guinea and Sao Tomé e Príncipe will finalise, in December, a partnership proposal for the operation, in joint venture, of the oil in their shared border. The topic was at the centre of the a 48-hour state visit, from Sunday to Monday in Sao Tomé, by the Equatorial Guinean president Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, leading an imposing delegation of 40 members.

At the end of this visit, a mixed commission was set up and a work meeting has been scheduled for December in Equatorial Guinea to define the parameters of this partnership and speed up its creation. "We want to set up this partnership as soon as possible", Patrice Trovoada, Prime Minister of Sao Tomé e Príncipe explained.

Equatorial Guinea, with oil companies of all scales operating on the offshore oil and gas potential, shares a promising maritime border with Sao Tomé e Príncipe.
