(Ecofin Agency) - UOP LLC, division of Honeywell International Inc, announced it has secured from Dangote Oil Refinery Company a contract for the provision of equipment and technology for its upcoming Lekki integrated refinery and petrochemical plant. Under the agreement, UOP LLC is to provide Dangote Oil Refinery Company proprietary specialist equipment and high-quality packaged equipment.

According to Mike Millard, vice president and general manager of UOP LLC’s Process Technology and Equipment business, Dangote’s “new refinery will help Nigeria meet its own growing demand for fuels and petrochemicals while raising the profitability of the nation’s crude oil”.

The Lekki refinery will be the largest single-train refinery in the world producing Euro-V quality gasoline and diesel in addition to jet fuel meeting international aviation standards.

“Nigeria has the second-largest proven oil reserves in Africa but currently imports most of its refined products because it has limited domestic refining capacity,” Millard said.
