Sasol has granted SNC-Lavalin four projects in South Africa, Engineering news reports.
The first three contracts would be performed at Sasol’s Secunda plant. The scope of works for the first project includes engineering, procurement and construction modifications for the Dorr Oliver filters and their respective auxiliaries at Sasol Synfuels’ Coal Processing West Plant. Work on the project has begun and will be completed early in May.
SNC-Lavalin is to also carry out a project to observe fugitive discharges at fixed points on the piping systems of the Sasol Secunda plant. Upon completion, the Sasol environmental department will relocate the analyses into a database for interpreting and monitoring purposes. The project is to be concluded in July 2017.
The third contract will involve the provision of welding hot-work services. In the interim, SNC-Lavalin Kentz Field Operations had begun work on a five-year deal to provide management support, coordination and supply of hot-work resources to embark on off site prefabrication and on site welding maintenance work on the current gas, Tar Phenosolven & Sulphur (TPS) and oxygen plants.
The fourth project however, will involve the SNC-Lavalin Kentz Field Operations team preparing for the Q1 wax plant shutdown, in Sasolburg. The planning and preparation phase on the plant began in October 2015 and included broad on site scope validation, a development and a ratification phase.
“These awards highlight our strong relationship with Sasol. We pride ourselves on our aligned values with this valued client, in terms of safety, quality and certainty of delivery, and look forward to continuing our successful association with them,” Christian Brown, SNC-Lavalin oil and gas president said.
