Egypt: Zhor gas production to commence in 3 years – Minister

Egypt’s minister for oil Sherif Ismail has declared that the Gas production at the newly-historic-discovered gas field of the Egyptian coast will start in 30 to 36 months.

Recently Italian energy group, Eni announced that it had found one of the world's largest natural gas fields Zhor off Egypt's coast. It said the area was 1,450m (4,757 feet) beneath the surface and covered 100 km² (39 square miles).

It said the field "could become one of the world's largest natural-gas finds and it will be able to transform the energy scenario of Egypt,". The gas discovered could hold as much as 30 trillion cubic feet of gas, or 5.5 billion barrels of oil equivalent, according to Eni .

Drilling works on Zohr field have commenced on June 28.2015, the Egyptian minister told Amwalalghad in an interview .
