Marathon Oil on Wednesday announced that it is prepared for the arrival of its new Alba B3 compression platform, the, sailing from Netherland to be deployed at the Alba offshore field in Equatorial Guinea.
Once deployed, the 5,800-tonne topside, is to be interlocked with the 91-meter tall jacket which weighs 2.600 tonnes. The job of the platform is to compress gas from the Alba field. Through a 33-meter-long bridge the platform will be connected to the existing Alba B2 platform.
According to Energy-Pedia, the compression platform was constructed by Heerema Fabrication Group. The company is also to install, commission and hook-up the platform at the Alba field, situated 32 km offshore Malabo. It plans to use the Thialf crane vessel for the final offshore installation.
