“As soon as the security situation improves, Libya will return to its normal production level. Perhaps that will be in a few months. We expect an opening of several additional terminals for the oil export which were closed before,” Koni said.He added that at present, oil production remains low, but could improve to the pre-crisis level of 1.6 million bpd under favorable conditions.
Libya has the largest oil reserves in Africa, estimated at 48 billion bbls. The country has been in chaos ever since Muammar Gaddafi was ousted in 2011.In December 2015, Libya’s internationally recognized Council of Deputies in Tobruk and the General National Congress in Tripoli arrived at an agreement to establish a Government of National Accord and put an end to the political struggle in the country, Sputnik news reports.
