Following the discovery of the Al-Jahra SE-1X well on July 27, 2016, Kuwait Energy on Monday announced the commencement of production from the exploration well in the Abu Sennan concession in Egypt’s Western Desert.
Egyptian Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) granted the company the development lease for the well on August 24 and began production on the 25th of that same month at a rate of 460 barrels of oil per day.
According to Sara Akbar, CEO of Kuwait Energy, the well is producing at a 2” choke size and output has steadied at a per day average rate of 410 bopd.“I am delighted to announce that we have begun production from the Al-Jahra SE-1X well after making the discovery earlier this year. This is another milestone highlighting Kuwait Energy’s exploration, development and execution capabilities adding value to the asset. We could not have achieved this without the unparalleled support of the EGPC and our partners,” she added.
Kuwait Energy is the operator of the Abu Sennan concession development lease. The company holds a 50% revenue interest in the concession alongside Dover Investment Limited and Rockhopper Exploration plc with 28% and 22% interests respectively, Kuna news reports.
