FMC Technologies has been granted a contract to provide subsea multiphase boosting pumps, manifolds, and installation support services for Eni Angola's Block 15/06 West Hub Development Project.
The company's subsea multiphase boosting pumps will improve production economics by decreasing backpressure on the reservoir, thereby boosting flow rates and total recoverable reserves.“This is our second award for our new subsea multiphase boosting system, and we are confident that this technology will be a critical and important part in supporting increased deepwater field recovery,” Tore Halvorsen, senior V.P., Subsea Technologies, FMC Technologies told World Oil.
The Block 15/06 is located about 350km north-west of Luanda, Angola, and covers approximately 2,984km².Eni is the operator of Block 15/06 with a 36.84% stake and Sonangol EP is the concessionaire. The other JV partners are Sonangol Pesquisa e Produção with 36.84% and SSI Fifteen Limited (a joint affiliate of Sinopec and Sonangol) with 26.32%.
The West Hub Development Project involves the initial development of the Sangos, Cinguvu and Mpungi fields, as well as later development of the Mpungi North, Vandumbu and Ochigufu fields, all located in Block 15/06 at water depths ranging from 1,000m to 1,500m.
