The onshore gas processing plants at Atuabo in the Ellembelle District in the Western Region of Ghana has recommenced operation and has started receiving raw gas.
Operated by Ghana’s National Gas Company (Ghana Gas), the plant currently transmitting between 38 and 40 Mmscf/d of gas to the Volta River Authority (VRA) at Shama for power generation.
Apart from that, the shortfall of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), in the Western, Central and Brong Ahafo regions due to the shutdown on the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah has been resolved and the supply to domestic users have recommenced.
According to a source, even though the gas currently being supplied is below 50% of the over 105 Mmscf initially being supplied to the VRA, they are walking together with the technical team offshore and the operators for a permanent solution.
“Currently, we are doing more than 40 Mmscf. We also have enough pressure in our offshore pipeline and will ensure that whatever is pushed from Jubilee Fields is processed and supplied to VRA and domestic users accordingly,” the undisclosed source told GhanaWeb.
