Eni on Monday announced that it has commenced production from the Mpungi field in the West Hub Development Project, within Block 15/06 of the Angolan Deep Offshore.
The West Hub Development Project covers the development of the Sangos, Cinguvu, Mpungi, Mpungi North, Ochigufu and Vandumbu fields in a water depth between 1,000 to 1,500 meters. These wells are organized and linked to the N’Goma Floating Production Storage and Offloading Unit (FPSO), which has a management capacity of 100,000 bo/d.
According to the company, production on the field is estimated at about 100,000 bo/d in Q1 2016. Eni is also planning to advance exploration programme on Block 15/06, which includes the East Hub Development Project currently under development and will begin producing in 2017. If the outcome of the exploration is successful, new finds will be linked to the current production infrastructure with a decrease in time and costs of production.
Eni operator Block 15/06 with a 36.84% stake, alongside Sonangol Pesquisa e Produção and SSI Fifteen Limited with 36.84% and 26.32% stakes respectively.
Eni has been in Angola since 1980 and has a net production of approximately 105,000 boe/d, Offshore Energy Today reports.
