BP Exploration Limited has awarded Nexans a contract to provide about 100 km of static umbilical and related accessories for the next phase of the West Nile Delta project.
The West Nile Delta project involves the development of gas and condensate fields located within the North Alexandria and West Mediterranean Deepwater concessions in the Mediterranean Sea.The contract will help BP and its partner DEA develop the Giza, Fayoum and Raven gas condensate fields as well as future finds and undiscovered resources in the concessions.
BP and Nexans are working together on the phase 1 of the project which is located 65 km and 85 km from the coast of Alexandria, of the north coast of Egypt.The electrical cables will be manufactured at Nexans’ plants in Rognan and the umbilical will be developed, manufactured and tested at Nexans’ specialized plant in Halden, Norway.They are expected to be delivered in 2018.
