Eland Oil & Gas, in its operational update on the Opuama-3 well re-entry announced that the Canal access clearing activities have been concluded, delivering the needed access to the Opuama-3 wellhead.
According to the company, the deployment of contractor equipment which includes crude storage barges and the associated marine spread from Warri and Port Harcourt to the Opuama-3 wellhead has been concluded and all equipment needed for the re-entry operations is on site.
Elland said works have commenced and the prearranged Production Logging Tool (PLT) runs have been finalized, eliminating all doubts regarding oil and water producing intervals. The team is to at the moment perform a water shut-off, prior to the perforation of the D2000 reservoir and an additional interval in the D1000 reservoir.
The two new perforated intervals are estimated, to produce an additional 2,000 to 4,000 bopd and the completion of flow-testing of Opuama-3 is expected in the coming weeks.
“We are pleased to announce that work over operations have commenced on Opuama-3, as we predicted in our operational update on 16 February this year. We look forward to positive news as we perforate two new zones which we believe to be highly productive and which potentially could almost double reported production rates from OML 40 at a relatively minimal cost,” George Maxwell, CEO of Eland, told Energy-pedia news.
