VAALCO Energy on Monday revealed that the North Tchibala 2-H well, the second development well in the North Tchibala field, offshore Gabon, has been brought on stream.
Subsequent to the drilling of the first well, the North Tchibala 1-H, which was drilled with the Transocean Constellation II jack-up rig and brought online in September 2015, the North Tchibala 2-H well was spud in October.
The well was brought on stream at a steady rate of about 500 gross bo/d. it was drilled to a measured depth of 16,476 feet and came across good quality sands in the Dentale D-18/19 reservoir.
According to VAALCO, the well began production flowing naturally with no H2S and water free. It added that based upon production tests in adjacent exploration wells, the quality of the reservoir would point out the potentials for a higher flow rate than has been initially achieved. “VAALCO is gathering diagnostic data to assess the productive capacity of the North Tchibala 2-H well and to determine if there is remedial work that might increase the flow rate from the well”, the company told Offshore Energy Today.
