Niger set to increase output by 2018

Thursday, 15 October 2015 17:45

Whilst Niger’s current oil output is at 20,000bo/d, the country plans to increase it to 70,000 bo/d by 2018, Deputy Budget Minister Mohamed Boucha said.

Indeed, the country plans to boost its output by introducing a new pipeline to be provided in 2016 by China’s National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). The pipeline is to initiate Niger’s crude export, transporting it from Agadem field to a terminal in Cameroon.

The pipeline, a 193 km-link to be added to Chad-Cameroon’s already existing line, resulted from a deal between Niger and Chad in 2014.

Niger’s crude output is processed at Soraz refinery, a company operated by CNPC.

The country however, started producing Crude oil in 2011 subsequent to a $5billion exploration agreement with CNPC, the Oil and gas year news reports.
