Circle Oil on Tuesday, announced that the 2016 infill drilling campaign on the North West Gemsa field in Egypt's Eastern Desert has been completed.
The second production well on the field, AASE-24, has been drilled to Total Depth, completed and connected to the production infrastructure.
A well test was carried out on May 16, 2016 and the well flowed at a gross average rate of 1,714 bopd and 3.062 Mmcf/d of gas through a 40/64" choke.
According to the company, the AASE-24 well will be produced at a lower rate so as to best manage the long term field production.
“We are pleased with the results of this two well drilling campaign which will help to maintain production rates and manage field production. There is no further drilling planned in 2016 although there is an ongoing workover campaign which we also expect to help maintain production levels,” Mitch Flegg, Circle Oil’s CEO told Energy-pedia.
The North West Gemsa which covers an area of 600 km² is situated in Egypt's Eastern Desert, close to both Dana Petroleum's North Zeit Bay and South Wadi Dara blocks.
The licence was granted to Vegas Oil and Gas as the only participant and operator in January 2003. The block is operated by SDX Energy with 10% interest alongside PetroAmir, a joint venture between EGPC and ZhenHua Oil with 50% and Circle Oil with 40%.
Four fields have been discovered on the block. They include the Al Amir which was discovered in 2005, the Al Amir SE discovered in 2008, Geyad discovered in 2009 and the Al Ola field discovered in 2010.
