Tlou Energy in its update on the ongoing field development activities, revealed that last year, it involved Botswanan-based Ecosurv Environmental Consultants and submitted an Environmental Project Brief for the Lesedi CBM Project.
In March 2015, Public consultations and background specialist analysis were concluded and a Scoping Report was submitted to the Botswanan Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA). The Scoping Report was then later sanctioned by the DEA in November 2015.
On the 15th of December 2015, The Company submitted the concluding part of Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Lesedi CBM project. The EIS comprising of up to 200 production pods and a central processing facility for the collection and beneficiation of gas and water.
According to Tlou Energy, Assessment and approval of the EIS by the DEA is the last stage in the environmental process. It anticipates to receive the EIS approval in H1 of 2016, Energy-pedia reports.
“The submission of the EIS is a significant milestone for Tlou and the Lesedi CBM Project. EIS approval is a pre-cursor for the award of a mining licence which, upon award, would be the first of its kind for a gas project in Botswana” Tony Gilby, Managing Director of Tlou Energy said.
