Sirius Petroleum has announced that the Federal Ministry of Environment has approved the Environmental Impact Assessment survey (EIA) on the Ororo Field Licence (OML 95), in Nigeria.
This is coming a week after the company announced that they have been granted a three-year extension to the field’s licence, by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
Sirius and its partners on the field, Guarantee Petroleum and Owena Oil & Gas, in April submitted the EIA survey to the Ministry of Environment for approval in line with the Department of Petroleum Resources’ guidelines and regulations.
The assessment covers the drilling of three wells and the installation of wellhead platforms on the Ororo field, Energy Voice reports.
However, Sirius and its Partners are to maintain the necessary environmental management plan and environmental audits in line with the standard Federal Ministry of Environment conditions.
Discovered in 1986 with the drilling of Ororo-1 well by Chevron, the Ororo field is situated within the Oil Mining Lease (OML) 95. The field lies in shallow waters offshore Ondo State in water depths between 23ft and 27 ft. The field is close to the Mina, West Isan, Ewan, Eko and Parabe fields operated by Chevron.
