Heerema Fabrication Group, on Wednesday announced that the Alba B3 topside and jacket have been successfully installed at the Alba field, offshore Equatorial Guinea.
The 5,800-tonne topside is 40 meters long and 40 meters wide with the height reaching 35 meters while 33-meter-long, 4-legged jacket is 33 meters wide and 81 meters high. The topside, was paired with the 91-meter tall jacket which weighs 2.600 tonnes at the Alba field, located some 32 kilometers offshore Malabo.
Both the topside and the jacket were built by Heerema Fabrication Group at its Poland fabrication facility in Opole. Meanwhile the transportation and installation part of the work was performed by Heerema Marine Contractors (a division of Heerema Fabrication Group).
The Alba 3 platform is to compress gas from the current Alba B2 platform via a 33-meter-long bridge connection. Marathon, however, expects to increase its production from the gas and condensate field with this new platform, Offshore Energy Today reports.
