Wednesday, 20 April 2016 15:39

BP Plc’s Regional President, North Africa, Hesham Mekawi (photo), has announced that the company’s operated Taurus/Libra gas fields in West Nile Delta project will begin production next year.

According to him, the company at present adds about 30% to Egypt’s overall natural gas production.

BP early this year plans to increase its natural gas production in the country in the next four years in spite of weak oil prices in the global market as Egypt's energy market offers hope for its economy.

Currently in Egypt, major finds like the Zohr gas field discovered by Eni, have convinced companies in preserve their strong positions in the region, as huge deposits are still believed to remain untapped, Amwalalghad news reports.
