The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama (photo) has revealed that the Jubilee field together with the achievement of first oil at the Tweneboa, Enyenra, Ntomme (TEN) field, have made Ghana become the Petroleum and Energy hub in the West African sub-region.

According to him, the TEN field will produce around 76,000 barrels of oil per day and 15 million standard cubic feet of gas.

He added that the gas from the field which is expected next year, will be transferred to the Atuabo gas processing plant to generate more power and to produce Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), so as to increase the country’s revenue base.

The President says he is confident that Ghana will soon be producing an average of about 300 Mmscf/d of gas once the $7 billion, Sankofa projects owned by Eni comes on stream.

Ghanaian Minister of Petroleum, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has said that the country is gradually transforming to the desired destination for investment in the West African Sub region.

We have not only created the necessary institutions to ensure continues exploration of hydrocarbon resources but have also put in place policy framework to ensure that Ghana becomes an attractive destination for investors,” he said.

The TEN project is located 60 kilometers off the coast of the western region. The full field development of the project will involve around 24 wells in total; a water injection, gas injection, and production wells. At the beginning 10 wells will be needed and these wells have already been drilled.

The TEN project is a joint venture led by Tullow Oil and it partners are: Kosmos Energy, Anardarko Petroleum Corporation and Petro SA, Business and Financial Times reports.
