In Nigeria, one out of the three much awaited refineries which was shut down in August, September and October, respectively has been brought on stream.
The Kaduna refinery which has a capacity of 110,000 bpd has resumed production, after it was shut down in September.
“We are producing now. We resumed last week around Tuesday or Wednesday. Since then, we have continued progressively, bringing in one unit after the other”, the Managing Director of Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited, Seidu Muhammed revealed on Monday.
He noted that the refinery was shut down due to lack of supply which was caused by the renovation of the pipeline pumping crude to the plant. He pointed out that prior to the repair, work began on the line between Escravos and Warri.
“But because of the lack of the line between Warri and Kaduna, that (supply of crude oil) could not have been done. And that is why we shut down the refinery in September. That pipeline has been repaired and as we speak right now, crude is flowing to Kaduna from Warri. We expect the PPMC to start loading and trucking PMS from Tuesday. Loading and trucking of PMS is not our responsibility”, he told Punch News.
