Tanzania: Mnazi Bay’s Gas flow slow due to dispute - Wentworth Resources

Thursday, 23 June 2016 12:17

In Tanzania, Wentworth Resources has revealed that the production of natural gas has increased in the country ever since the Mnazi Bay field came on stream.

According to the company, gas deliveries from Mnazi Bay flows through the new transnational pipeline to be used in power generation facilities near Dar es Salaam.

Production capacities from the gas field reached 74 Mmscf/d in Q2 but reduced in April 2016 as a result of heavy rains and the shutting down of the Symbion power plant due to a dispute.

Since June, the sales capacity going to the pipeline have been kept at 50 Mmscf/d as a result of a dispute between Symbion, one of the power plants which uses Mnazi Bay gas and TANESCO.

It is not clear for how long it will be before the dispute is resolved. However, Wentworth resources still hopes that per day production capacities of 70 to 80 Mmscf/d will be reached this year, once the dispute has been resolved, Petroleum Africa reports.
