In Mozambique, Wentworth Resources has announced that it is at present holding talks with state-owned Empresa Nacional de Hydrocarbonetos de Mozambique (ENH) to take up operatorship of the Rovuma onshore concession following the departure of Anardarko and its JV partners Maurel & Prom and PTTEP.
Anardarko and its JV partners gave up their participating interest in the Rovuma concession on the 31st of August 2015. This participating interest, is to be assigned to the remaining partners in the concession.
The company added that ENH which holds a 15% participating interest is to determine the appraisal acreage for the Tembo-1 discovery and to later agree on a multi-year appraisal plan with the remaining partners.
The Rovuma onshore concession is situated northeast of Mozambique. It borders the Rovuma River to the north and extends to the east into the Indian Ocean. The onshore concession only recorded one discovery in December 2014 at the Tembo-1 well, which came across 11 meters of natural gas net pay, while the Kifaru-1 well in 2015 was not successful, Oil news Kenya reports.
